What you need to know about pasta
Ever wonder how many types of pasta are there? Twenty? Fifty? Perhaps a hundred? According to ITALY Magazine, it is estimated that there are approximately 350 different types of pasta. Yes, that’s correct – three hundred and fifty! This is because some types may have varied names depending on the languages or regions. For example, conchiglie is commonly known as “shells” or “seashells”, and farfalle is often called “bowtie” or “butterfly” pasta.
Though different in shapes and forms, pasta is normally made using only three ingredients: flour, water and eggs. Ever since its discovery in the 13th century, the processing of pasta has evolved so much over many years of mixing, drying, and packaging methods, allowing us to continually enjoy the beloved dish in many different ways up to the present times.
